Riding Apart – Yet Together – for Cerebral Palsy Research
Great news! The 19th Annual Pedal with Pete Columbus Event will be held this year, but will be different than in the past. This year’s event will not be the one-day event originally scheduled for August 1st, but an event with marked cycling routes that may be ridden individually or in groups over a three week period with photo ops along the way to be posted at our registration web site.
The virtual event will begin on July 18th and end on August 8th. Five of the routes begin in Old Hilliard just off Main Street at the Heritage Rail Trail with distances from 16 miles to 100 miles. For riders willing to drive a bit further for a greater challenge, three more routes start on East State Street near the ballfields just east of the town center in Milford Center with distances from 39 to 64 miles. Although there will be no SAG (support and gear) service for this three-week event, nor will there be any social event with food and beverages when the event ends on August 8th, we plan on being back next year with the event you know and love. But the routes will be clearly marked and maintained during the three-week duration of the event, and all routes longer than 16 miles will have the opportunity to purchase food from local stores and restaurants within reasonable distances.
To participate in this event, go to the registration web site here to register. Registration for this event is free, but we ask that you consider a donation to support the Pedal with Pete Foundation in its activities with the cerebral palsy community. For those of you that have already registered, no action is necessary.
Once registered, you’ll have access to printable maps and downloadable GPS course files for all the routes. If you register as a team, you’ll have access to all the team features allowing you to email other members of the team, post team stories and post team photos and videos.
Beginning on July 18th, ride that day or at any time during the next three weeks, and, as many times as you wish. There will be signs posted along all of the routes. We hope that you take photos by these signs and post them to your team site on STRIDE so that we’ll have a photo record of the event for this very memorable year.
On behalf of all of the volunteers at the Pedal with Pete Foundation, and the cerebral palsy community, we want to thank you for your continuing support. We hope that you will be able to join us again this year. Be assured that everyone’s health and safety is our overriding concern as we continue our planning for this year’s event. Stay healthy!
